Acquisition setting optimization and quantitative imaging for 124I studies with the Inveon microPET-CT system

چکیده
Background: Noninvasive multimodality imaging is essential for preclinical evaluation of the biodistribution and pharmacokinetics of radionuclide therapy and for monitoring tumor response. Imaging with nonstandard positronemission tomography [PET] isotopes such as I is promising in that context but requires accurate activity quantification. The decay scheme of I implies an optimization of both acquisition settings and correction processing. The PET scanner investigated in this study was the Inveon PET/CT system dedicated to small animal

BACKGROUND 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (18F-FDG-PET) is widely used in diagnostic cancer imaging. However, the use of 18F-FDG in PET-based imaging is limited by its specificity and sensitivity. In contrast, anti-TAG (tumor associated glycoprotein)-72 monoclonal antibodies are highly specific for binding to a variety of adenocarcinomas, including colorectal cancer. The ai...
متن کاملComputed tomography based attenuation correction in PET/CT: Principles, instrumentation, protocols, artifacts and future trends
The advent of dual-modality PET/CT imaging has revolutionized the practice of clinical oncology, cardiology and neurology by improving lesions localization and the possibility of accurate quantitative analysis. In addition, the use of CT images for CT-based attenuation correction (CTAC) allows to decrease the overall scanning time and to create a noise-free attenuat...
متن کاملA dedicated high-resolution PET imager for plant sciences.
PET provides an in vivo molecular and functional imaging capability that could be valuable for studying the interaction of plants in changing environments at the whole-plant level. We have developed a dedicated plant PET imager housed in a plant growth chamber (PGC), which provides a fully controlled environment. The system currently contains two types of scintillation detector modules from com...
